Outta Gas, bank robbers? and God's angels
After trying all day to figure out a way to pay my electric bill before I was left in the cold with no heat... I made the very dificult decision to drive across the Georgia line to get a Title Pawn on my vehicle. It was approximately 3 pm and they closed at 4 pm. I put the last $10.00 I had to my name in the vehicle and off I went, arriving 30 minutes before they closed. I filled out the forms speedily, trying not to panic as time ticked by because I had to make it to their bank before 5pm . Paperwork done, check in hand I hopped into my car and off I drove to the bank (only 5 minutes away). Halfway there my car ran out of gas. I had 4 minutes to get to the bank. Freezing cold I ran down the sidewalk, terrified to hitchhike and more terrified I would be stuck in Georgia sleeping in a car with no heat or gas. When out of the blue a lady in a van pulled up and rolled down her window - from her radio played music about God. I told her that I needed to go to the bank and had 2 minutes. I simply knew she was safe, although once inside I was a bit scared. I ran into the bank with a minute to spare...and told them my story. To say they looked at me strangely is an understatement, especially when I described the van and woman who picked me up (who was no longer in the parking lot). The lady (Mrs. Faye) said she had to pick up her son and would return for me. Luckily Walmart was beside the bank so I coul d go buy a gas can. . But the funny part had just begun. After waiting awhile I was unsure if she would return and I saw a sherrif in the parking lot. I flagged him down and when he got out of the car I swear he was 7 foot tall...I told him my story and asked could he take me to the gas station and my car. Looking at his watch he reluctantly agreed. Then asked me for my liscence (which freaked me out) - I ask for help and he asks for ID...so here I am outside the bank while the bank ladies who just heard my odd story see me being ID ed by a sherrif drive by me probably thinking 'that's nice'. Then Mrs. Faye drives back up and sees the same I am sure she was thinking 'oh great I picked up a bank robber' - at which point I tell the sherrif 'see there really is a Mrs. Faye' and she takes me to the gas station and back to my car. Driving home I realized that no matter where I go or how far I get away from God, He knows exactly where I am and protects me.
